Alborán is an uninhabited island belonging to Spain at the Mediterranean sea, which is from volcanic origin. The island and the surrounding area are a nature protected area. Alborán forms a nearly ded level rock plateau of approximately 15 meters height.

 

The Islas Cíes are a small island archipelago, in front of the coast of Galicia, close of the city Vigo in the northwest of Spain. The archipelago consists of three uninhabited islands. In the year 1980 the Islas Cíes were explained as nature protected area.

 

The Islas Chafarinas are a to Spain belonging island archipelago, which is situated in a distance of about 50 km in the east of Melilla and only four kilometers in front of the Moroccan coast. There is no civilian population at the islands.

 

The Islas Columbretes are a Spanish archipelago, which consists of the volcanic islands Isla Grande, Ferrera, Forrada and Bergantín Carallot as well as numerous cliffs and sand banks.

The islands are as a national park under nature protection and are covering a surface of 19 hectares.

Izaro is an island at the Atlantic Ocean in the proximity of the places Bermeo and Mundaka. It is 675 meters long and up to 150 meters wide and reaches a height up to 45 meters. The island is located in the Unesco biosphere reservation area Urdaibai in front of the delta of the Oka in the Basque country and belongs to Spain.

 

The Isla del Perejil (parsley island; Arab Leila = „night “) is situated in the road of Gibraltar, 200 meters in front of the Moroccan coast and 8 kilometers western to the Spanish exclave Ceuta. Meager remainders of old land development arec existing; today the island is uninhabited.

Peñón de Alhucemas (Peñón: Spanish = rock)is an island in front of the coast of North Africa, belonging to Spain. The Peñón de Alhucemas is inhabited (militarily). The tower of a former church is visible from far away . On the islands there is no port, only one anchorage.

 

The island Tabarca is situated at the Mediterranean sea in the proximity of the Cap Santa Pola near Alicante, from which it is located at a distance of three miles. The island is visited particularly in the summer, if daily trips are undertaken from Alicante or Santa Pola.

The Isla del Trocadero is an island in the bay of Cádiz, near the Spanish city Cádiz in Andalusia. The island is visited by hikers, windsurfers and sailors. Small parts of the island are used for the extraction of salt.
